The construction industry has traditionally been risk averse and slow to innovate. However, this week the Cement Concrete & Aggregates Australia announced Australia’s Best Concrete Buildings, including The PunchbowlMosque designed by Candalepas Associates and built by Infinity. The Punchbowl Mosque and the other nine structures announced, pushed boundaries in an era for the use of a building material that chairman of the judging panel Peter Poulet, a former NSW government architect, said was a “utilitarian tool that has been re-positioned to become sexy”. The judging was based on three criteria: architectural merit, innovation in the use of concrete and exemplars of their time which redefined and expanded concrete’s potential. At Infinity, we are a diverse and experienced builder and we pride ourselves on being innovative within our approach with each and every one of our builds. Our client’s objective is always our highest priority and we are always working to achieve the best outcome by suggesting different approaches and more cost effective ways through design and materials. Congratulations to Candalepas Associates on their success in the design of the Punchbowl Mosque and to all the other finalists named in the top 10.
