A striking new student accommodation precinct is transforming the skyline of Kensington, which is close to the University of New South Wales. Scape Lachlan is set to be a landmark development, contributing significantly to the urban transformation of the Kensington area and providing modern accommodation and amenities for students and young workers.

Scape Lachlan is a key part of Scape Australia’s significant investment in developing multiple student accommodation buildings along Anzac Parade in Kensington and Kingsford. This is Infinity Constructions Group’s second project for Scape Australia within this vibrant precinct.

The developments in this precinct are designed to address the need for student and affordable worker housing in an area with significant educational institutions (such as UNSW, NIDA, and TAFE Kensington).

Infinity Constructions Group Pty. Ltd. is proud to share the latest progress on Scape Lachlan — a landmark project for our long-term client Scape Australia, designed by leading architecture firm SJB.

The development consists of two towers, rising to 18 and 9 storeys respectively, delivering modern student living with a focus on quality, sustainability, and community.

Design Features

  • The ground level is designed as a vibrant hub with a lobby, communal areas, retail spaces (including food and beverage outlets and potentially a supermarket), public thoroughfares, and an “Innovation Space” intended for use by the Council and nearby tertiary institutions.
  • It aims to become the “heart of Todman Square,” featuring active retail frontages with outdoor seating.
  • Materials at the base are robust, including concrete frames, blackened steel, and various brickwork.
  • Interiors will feature extensive joinery, modern lighting, and colourful finishes.
  • A commercial kitchen will service the building.
  • The design emphasises community, with spaces intended to foster interaction among residents.
  • Water-sensitive urban design and boulevard treatments are incorporated into the streetscapes.
  • A notable design concept involves maintaining a heritage façade with a new tower appearing to float above it.

Sustainability

  • Scape Lachlan is designed to achieve a 5-star Green Star rating, indicating a high level of ecological sustainability.
  • This includes resource-efficient building systems, a reduced environmental impact, and a focus on occupant well-being.
  • Other sustainable initiatives in the broader Scape precinct development include car share programs, e-bikes, rainwater reuse, and extensively landscaped zones.

Where We Are Now

Construction is progressing rapidly across both buildings:

  • Building A: Pouring is now underway on Level 15 of 18, with structural works climbing steadily towards topping out.
  • Building B: Successfully topped out at Level 9, marking a significant milestone with the structure now complete.
  • Façade: Installation has commenced on both towers, revealing glimpses of the high-quality design and finishes to come.

As the towers continue to rise, they reflect not only the evolution of student accommodation in Sydney but also the high standards that define an Infinity-built project.

Stay tuned as we share more updates and behind-the-scenes photography from this transformative development.
