Infinity Constructions has completed the fit-out of Privé Melbourne, an intimate new hospitality destination located within Melbourne’s historic Gothic Bank precinct.
Situated at 90 Queen Street in the former Melbourne Safe Deposit Building, Privé combines the public-facing Bar Privé cocktail lounge with a collection of sophisticated private dining spaces. The project required the careful integration of contemporary hospitality design within one of Melbourne CBD’s most architecturally significant heritage environments.
Delivered for Queen and Collins Pty Ltd, part of Edition Hospitality Group, the project builds on Infinity Constructions’ established relationship with the hospitality group behind Reine & La Rue, NOMAD and Florentino. Working in collaboration with architect Untitled Works, our Melbourne construction team delivered a carefully detailed venue that respects the building’s historic character while creating an intimate and distinctly contemporary guest experience.

Premium Hospitality Fit-Out in Melbourne
Privé occupies part of the heritage-listed former Melbourne Safe Deposit Building at 90 Queen Street. Its location presented a unique construction environment in which new architectural elements, services and hospitality requirements needed to be introduced without detracting from the building’s historic fabric.
Infinity Constructions coordinated the fit-out within the constraints of the existing structure, carefully managing access, services, bespoke interior elements and premium finishes. This required close collaboration between the construction team, client, architect, consultants and specialist trades.
The completed venue maintains a strong connection with the neighbouring Reine & La Rue while offering a more intimate atmosphere. Privé officially opened in July 2026 as a standalone destination for cocktails, private dining and special events. The venue’s own website describes it as an extension of Reine & La Rue that combines heritage surroundings with modern luxury.

Bar Privé and Private Dining Spaces
A central feature of the project is Bar Privé, an intimate public cocktail bar inspired by Melbourne’s Victorian-era private clubs and the concealed vault chambers associated with the former Safe Deposit Building.
The bar’s smaller scale demanded a high level of precision across the joinery, lighting, furniture interfaces, finishes and service installations. Every element contributes to the venue’s atmospheric character while supporting the practical requirements of a premium commercial hospitality operation.
Across the venue, a collection of private dining rooms provides flexible spaces for intimate dinners, celebrations, corporate functions and special events. The design allows these rooms to retain a sense of privacy while remaining connected to the broader Privé and Reine & La Rue experience.
Bespoke Joinery and Architectural Finishes
The Privé Melbourne hospitality fit-out incorporates bespoke joinery, custom interior elements, detailed lighting and carefully selected materials throughout the venue.
These elements were coordinated within an existing heritage structure where dimensions, interfaces and service routes required careful planning. Infinity Constructions worked closely with Untitled Works and the wider project team to translate the architectural vision into a finished hospitality environment.
The resulting spaces combine rich material selections and contemporary detailing with references to the building’s former use and Victorian-era character. Rather than competing with the historic setting, the new work creates a quieter and more intimate counterpart to the grand architecture of the surrounding Gothic Bank precinct.
Construction Within a Heritage Environment
Delivering a contemporary hospitality venue inside an existing heritage building requires more than a high-quality interior finish. It also demands careful coordination of building services, fire and life-safety requirements, access, acoustics, lighting, ventilation and operational hospitality systems.
Infinity Constructions managed these technical requirements while protecting the character of the existing building and maintaining the quality expected of an Edition Hospitality Group venue.
