The Masonic Residences is a Melbourne student housing project that comprises 87 student studios, common space recreational and study facilities plus landscaped areas for students. Infinity adopted a design and construct approach to the project to resolve complex detailing issues and services coordination challenges in collaboration with the consultant team led by the Project Architect.
The adaptive reuse of the existing iconic built form into a high-end student facility comprised the complete restoration of the existing feature facade and external walls, structural upgrade to meet current code compliance and then, a contemporary extension to the rear and sides which was sympathetic to the period features of the existing building.

The conversion and extension of the existing Masonic Centre in Malvern East, Victoria to student accommodation presented a combination of challenges. The existing structure was badly dilapidated and required extensive remedial work in order to ensure the two structures complements each other and were able to retain structural soundness and accept the new loads imposed by the additions.
